My absence from this blog can be explained by two things – one, I am drowning in deadlines and two, my nails are growing at a snail’s pace. Remember how I nubbinized them after my trip to Singapore?
But the break from swatching needs to end. And today, although my nails haven’t grown to my desired length, I spent a good couple of hours swatching. (The YSL swatches will follow soon, I promise, just let me grow my nails a little longer.)
I have great news for Chanel-loving polish fans in the Philippines – the Rouge Allure Velvet collection is now available in Rustan’s.
You’ve seen my swatches of Rose Cache, Rose Exuberant, Pirate and Chanel’s Top Coat Velvet. And now, to celebrate their release, let me post some comparison swatches.
Let’s start with Rose Cache, the pretty rose beige with Chanel’s secret shimmer.
I’d like to think that my Chanel collection is pretty extensive but I don’t have anything that looks similar to Rose Cache.
Even bottle pics are enough to tell you that.
Ming is more pink.
Rose Confidentiel is darker.
Jade Rose is more yellow.
Peche Nacree is more peach.
And it’s not just bottle pics – they look really different on the nails too.
So yup, no dupes.
And now, Rose Exuberant.
I have a number of Chanel pinks in my collection.
And out of all of them, Pulsion is the one that is most similar to Rose Exuberant.
Rose Insolent is lighter. Splendeur is much darker. (And I love it, I think it’s sexy.)
On the nails, Pulsion is still the most similar to Rose Exuberant.
Both are gorgeous, vibrant, creamy pinks that can work as one-coaters.
But there is a slight difference – Pulsion is a little lighter and brighter than Rose Exuberant. I can’t decide which one I like more. They’re both super pretty.
I love how awesome my pink Chanels look when mattified with Chanel’s Top Coat Velvet.
And finally, Chanel Pirate.
I already knew I didn’t have a Chanel dupe in my collection – none of my other red Chanels have Pirate’s crazy gorgeous jelly finish.
But I still brought them out anyway.
I love Chanel’s reds.
They are sexy sexy sexy.
I couldn’t get enough of them.
Enthusiast is too orange to be a Pirate dupe. Fire is brighter. Rouge Fatale is darker.
Dragon looks similar in photos but it has too much brown in it to be a dupe for Pirate.
And Dragon has a cream finish while Pirate is a crazy squishy jelly. I love it. I love them both.
All these Chanel reds look fantastic with Chanel’s matte top coat too.
Love.
Now I’m excited to do comparison swatches of Chanel’s Top Coat Velvet and other matte top coats.
Chanel’s Rouge Allure Velvet Collection is now available at Rustan’s The Beauty Source.
